One Piece Chapter 1051 Recap & Spoilers – CBR – Comic Book Resources

The people of Wano celebrate the return of their shogun in One Piece Chapter 1051.
The following contains spoilers for One Piece Chapter 1051, "Shogun of Wano, Kozuki Momonosuke" by Eiichiro Oda, Stephen Paul and Vanessa Satone, available in English from Viz Media.
In Chapter 1050 of One Piece, Kaido plummeted to the earth below, creating a giant tunnel next to the one Big Mom created after losing her fight. Their bodies became submerged in an underground magma pool, leading to cracks forming beneath the sea's surface. Luffy was declared the official victor as those in the Flower Capital celebrated their one day of freedom. Meanwhile, the Alliance celebrated their victory while the Animal Kingdom Pirates refused to believe Kaido lost. Momonosuke decided not to open the borders of Wano just yet, and there was an eruption just off the shore of Udon. Momonosuke descended into the Flower Capital, where Hiyori and the Akazaya Nine also appeared, shocking the citizens.
Chapter 1051 starts with everyone in the Flower Capital trying to work out what's going on. The dragon they believed to be Kaido is claiming otherwise, and Komurasaki is standing before them alive and well. As if that weren’t enough, Kin’emon appears from the smoke, also thought to be dead by everyone. The people begin wondering if they died at some point and if this is the afterlife. As the Akazaya Nine gather, revealing they’ve been alive this entire time, the people begin cheering and celebrating as Toki’s prediction appears to be coming true. Using a Light-Scroll, a broadcast is sent out across Wano, and everyone watches in anticipation.

As this happens, Yamato meets the rest of the Straw Hats, who are wary about being near Kaido’s son. Yamato insists that he isn’t their enemy and explains that he is the newest member of their crew. While Brook and Sanji seem completely on board, Jimbei says that Luffy needs to approve the new addition. Luffy is currently being tended to by Chopper.
While Yamato is chastising a group of Animal Kingdom Pirates for trying to sneak away, Usopp asks Tama what’s going to happen to those who are under the effect of her Devil Fruit. Tama explains that her power wears off after about a month and that the animals usually go back to normal, but some stay her friend. Speed says that she would rather stay with Tama, who says that she thinks of Speed as a mother and wants to stay with Speed forever. The moment is interrupted when someone says that something is happening on the screen broadcasting from the Flower Capital.
A figure stands shrouded in smoke, saying it has been 20 years since the death of Kozuki Oden and calling him "Father." This shocks the already stunned crowd. He continues, saying that he is glad everyone survived the long, difficult years. The celebration will not end with the Fire Festival, and the freedom will be every day of the year instead of just one. Clean water will no longer be a commodity, and the factories that pollute the land will be demolished and slavery abolished.

Hearing his words, Tama realizes that this grown man is Momonosuke. She thinks back to when her parents died working at the factories and how she tried to be strong afterward so their spirits could rest easy. She tried selling kasa to make money, but nobody would buy one until Tenguyama bought one from her one day. He told her to wait a little longer and that the Kozuki Clan’s warriors would return and free Wano. This gave Tama hope, and she assured him that she would be okay. Now, overwhelmed with emotion, she hugs Nami and begins to cry.
Momonosuke continues his speech, declaring that Orochi’s rule and Kaido’s reign of terror are over. He talks about the people who helped him and inspired him, the Alliance that defeated the Animal Kingdom Pirates and those who gave their lives for freedom. The citizens weep with joy, although Kid is annoyed at Momo's title for the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance.

Pausing for a moment, he whispers to Kin’emon that he doesn’t know what else to say. Kin’emon tells him to just bluff, and Momo thinks back to when Luffy asked if there was anything in the world that still scared him. He begins speaking again, declaring his name means “invincible,” given to him by his father. He promises to restore Wano to its former glory, but he’ll need the strength of his people. He, Kozuki Momonosuke, will lead them to prosperity.
Everyone begins to cry as he stands proud before the people of Wano and thinks about his parents. The crowd erupts into applause and celebration at the return of the Kozuki Clan. Together with his sister and the Akazaya Nine, Momonosuke turns and returns to the castle, ready to make Wano great once again.
The next chapter of One Piece will be available on Sunday, June 12th.
