It was nearly two years ago when Adam Sandler shot scenes of a movie at a local high school in Pennsylvania.
Now, at long last, that movie—exclusively available on Netflix and officially titled “Hustle”—has gotten a trailer.
PennLive previously reported how Sandler and crew were going around the Keystone State filming “Hustle” for several months. Filming locations included the Coatesville Area High School gymnasium, plus various spots around Philadelphia’s Center City neighborhood.
The movie follows the story of Stanley Sugarman (as portrayed by Sandler), a former basketball scout with what the Wikipedia premise description of the film calls a “checkered past” who attempts to bring his career back to life by bringing a player from overseas into the NBA fold.
A trailer of the film as published to the Fandom Twitter page shows Sandler expressing this trying-to-overcome-a-checkered-past grit alongside co-stars Queen Latifah, Ben Foster, and Martin Duvall, all against the backdrop of the City of Brotherly Love.
While this movie is certainly posed as a delight for basketball fans (as well as just Sandler fans) in general, it’s certainly posed as an even bigger delight for Netflix: Another PennLive article detailed how Sandler’s movies have done extremely well for the platform in the past, with his silly Halloween romp—”Hubie Halloween”—topping Netflix charts back in 2020 and his 2019 “Murder Mysteries” doing the same for that year.
Netflix and Sandler’s production company, Happy Madison Productions, inked a deal for the creation of four films between the two entities. Seems like there’s just one more to go.
“Hustle” will be available for streaming on Netflix starting June 8.
